What new developments, trends and innovations are you seeing in the payments sector?

Payments have undergone constant change over the last fifteen years. The development of technologies and the arrival of new players have encouraged the emergence of alternative payment solutions - e-wallets, instant payment, etc. - and the growth of e-commerce. - and the growth of e-commerce. Purchases are increasingly being made digitally, including in-store, via contactless and mobile payment, for example. Consumers expect a simple, fluid experience, with greater immediacy and optimum security. Against this backdrop, regulation is constantly evolving, to promote competition, reduce costs and make them more transparent, but also to strengthen consumer protection, security and European sovereignty.
For retailers, the challenge is to find simple, comprehensive solutions in this highly competitive environment, so that they can offer their customers a smooth, personalised and secure payment experience across all distribution channels. This is a major challenge if they are to increase sales and build customer loyalty.

What solutions do you offer merchants?

As a long-standing player in the financial sector, Societe Generale has a global offering covering the entire payment chain, complemented by insurance and financing services. To support merchants in their development in Europe, we are deploying an embedded finance strategy. The aim is to enable them to increase their conversion rate, through an optimised customer journey, while limiting the risk of fraud.
This strategy is based on constantly enriching our range with innovative players, such as fintechs. For example, our subsidiary PayXpert caters for all types of retailers in a wide range of sectors, offering omnichannel, alternative and cross-border payments, as well as solutions accessible to the visually impaired. Our partner Fintecture further enhances this offering with simplified and secure business-to-business payment methods.
Another pillar of our approach is Scalexpert, a platform for merchants, whether or not they are customers of the Bank. It combines solutions that can be easily integrated into the purchasing processes of merchant websites and marketplaces. Launched in 2023 with fractional payments, long credit and contextual insurance, it is regularly enhanced with high value-added services. It now includes payment acceptance and initiation services, as well as data services. We are also working on the launch of an offering for marketplaces that will enable them to collect payments on behalf of third parties, to simplify the control and management of financial flows.
Finally, as a single point of entry, our team of experts dedicated to e-commerce and omnichannel solutions is available to retailers to define the services best suited to their needs, depending on their sector of activity and the expectations of their customers..

What will Paris Retail Week mean for your business this year?

For Societe Generale, it's a fantastic opportunity to interact with the ecosystem, in particular with our customers and partners. It's also a great opportunity for us to showcase our services to merchants on our stand F109, and to learn from everyone's comments, challenges and news in order to optimise and enhance our offering.
We'll also be running a wide-ranging programme of events on our stand, showcasing the new features of our Scalexpert platform as well as numerous customer case studies. Finally, we are organising a workshop on the scalability and agility of payment solutions. We'll be taking part with PayXpert, alongside G7 taxis and Edenred on 17 September at 4pm. We look forward to seeing you there!

RETAILIGENCE is the theme chosen for the 2024 edition of the show. What does this mean for your company?

AI and data are at the heart of Société Générale Group's strategy. We have deployed numerous use cases to improve customer satisfaction, operational efficiency and environmental and social transitions.
Today, our Scalexpert platform offers merchants essential data services to adapt their e-commerce strategy and optimise their conversion rate. Through a sector-based analysis based on anonymised data, it enables merchants to gain a better understanding of their customers, their sector of activity and their market share.
Come and find out more about this solution and all our offerings on our stand F109.
